Emma’s Thank You Note to the AFG Community
Dear Alliance Community,
As I approach my final day here at Alliance for Girls, I want to take a moment to thank you for the last 11 years.
We live in a country that often tries to divide us, and define us by our differences. Alliance for Girls offers an alternative to that narrative. We have built an alliance that is diverse and powerful, that is abundant and generous, that is united in its mission to create a better world for girls and gender-expansive youth.
When I was 24 years old, I dreamt of our AFG community – an alliance where people know that they belong and where the bonds between them are so strong that they can weather the winds of regression and continue to march forward. Together we locked arms and pressed on through incredibly difficult times, with the needs and dreams of the girls and gender-expansive youth we work with as our guiding light.
There are hundreds of people who have held my hand through this journey. You offered your support, advice, partnership, strategic thinking, financing, and more to a young woman with a dream. It is your abundance and kindness that’s made us the team we are today and has sustained Alliance for Girls for over a decade.
As I pass the baton, I am filled with gratitude to each of you for making our journey to this point possible. Thank you to our members, our funders, our volunteers, and most of all our staff and board for fostering an alliance strong enough to withstand the test of time and powerful enough to meaningfully change the landscape for girls and gender-expansive youth across the state. I am forever grateful.
Warmly,
