AFG’s 2022 Annual Impact Report
Ten years ago, the fierce women who helped found Alliance for Girls* (AFG) asked themselves, “What can we accomplish together that we could not accomplish on our own?”
Here we are a decade later celebrating a milestone that we manifested. Together, we’ve had a greater impact on improving the lives of girls and gender-expansive youth in California than we could have ever imagined.
That is why we’re excited to share a special edition of AFG’s Annual Impact Report (2022), which shows how the AFG model has led to a decade of accomplishments.
As we reflect on our accomplishments from this year, we know that our collective work was made possible by the powerful foundation we have built over 10 years. This year alone we:
Held AFG’s 10-Year Anniversary & 7th Annual The World We Imagine Conference, where we convened more than 475 intergenerational leaders including best-selling authors, community leaders, policymakers, champions of girls and gender-expansive youth, and over 200 girls and gender-expansive youth.
Expanded AFG’s presence into Los Angeles County and, with seed funding from the California Community Foundation and the Blue Shield Foundation of California, we welcomed six impactful organizations as official members and their women leaders formed our inaugural L.A. Advisory Team.
Hosted 4 live multi-series trainings that centered on elements of radical safety, which were attended by 109 members and stakeholders, and added three more courses to our AFG Learning Hub.
Welcomed new fellows in Advocacy, School Partnerships, and Membership for the third year of the AFG Youth Fellows Program.
Presented youth-developed and data-driven policy recommendations to Santa Clara County government based on findings from the When Young Moms Thrive youth-led research report, When Young Moms Thrive: Reimagining Child Care, Community, and Young Motherhood, produced in partnership with the Young Women’s Freedom Center.
This work is truly a collective effort, and we could not do it without your support. Please consider making a contribution to help us continue to do this important work. We look forward to our next decade of impact - together.
*"Girls and gender-expansive youth" refers to cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth, and any girl-identified youth.
