Gender-Expansive Youth Researcher
The Gender-Expansive Youth (GEY) Researcher will collaborate with the Alliance for Girls (AFG) Youth Engagement Team to develop and implement strategies for intentionally partnering with gender-expansive youth* throughout the Bay Area. This role is critical in ensuring that the unique needs and perspectives of gender-expansive youth are prioritized and integrated into our work.
*At AFG, we define youth as anyone who is under the age of 26.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify Inclusion Gaps: Assist in identifying gaps in current practices and programs to ensure inclusivity for gender-expansive youth (GEY).
Project Development: Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and design projects that prioritize the unique needs of GEY, ensuring they are at the forefront of our efforts.
Facilitate Listening Circles: Conduct two listening circles in early November and mid-December. These circles will center GEY voices, focusing on their experiences with AFG and their broader perspectives on nonprofit organizations.
Resource Page Redesign: Contribute to help design of the GEY resource page on the AFG website, ensuring it is relevant and accessible to gender-expansive youth.
Research Review: Review previous AFG research and provide feedback on how it can be more inclusive. Offer recommendations on incorporating these insights into future projects.

Who Should Apply
Prospective candidates are community leaders passionate about equity and gender justice and interested in gaining experience in coordinating a variety of events as well as learning how organizational practices and processes can be more value-aligned. Ideal candidates are organized, self-starters, able to work independently, eager to learn, have excellent communication skills, and have some experience in community outreach or event organizing.

Commitment: Approximately 8-10 hours per week. This is a remote position with at least 2 in-person events (Oakland, CA).
Compensation: This is an independent contractor position stipended at $3,000. Travel to/from off-site events will be reimbursed. Technology support is available.
